Swimming Carnivals: House spirit rules
×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Swimming Carnivals are like no other… a riot of colour, camaraderie, sportsmanship and great House spirit!
Swimming Carnival season at ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ kicked off last Friday, with our Senior School heading once more to North Ryde pool. Our Year 12 students embraced the tradition of dressing up for the event, using their creativity to put together some incredibly imaginative costumes to fit the different House themes.
The atmosphere and friendly rivalry between Houses was on display even before the girls had boarded the buses from ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ.
House spirit continued in the pool at North Ryde, with some incredible swimming and equally impressive support from the sidelines. The chants and cheers spurred competitors on to great success.
There were so many incredible achievements in the pool on the day, and we would like to congratulate all the competitors for their efforts. In particular, Chloe in the 12/13yrs category who set a new school record in the 50m Backstroke, with a time of 38.75, and a new school record in the 50m butterfly, with a time of 36.38. And Lily in the 16yrs category, who set a new school record in the 50m Backstroke, with a time of 31.90. Well done to both girls!
As always, the competition between Houses was intense, but the winner of the 2019 House Cup for the 8th consecutive year was Hooke! And the winner of the House Cheers was School. Great job everyone!
A huge thank you to the Sports Department, and in particular Head of Sport, Ms Osborne (K-12), who was the mastermind behind all of the planning and delivery, as well as the staff who had major roles all day. And thank you to Ms Carson for her fantastic photography and to the Sports Captain and House Captains for their hard work and support!
On Monday, the Junior School Swimming Carnival returned for the second time to North Sydney Olympic Pool.
The sun was shining, the temperature was soaring and with its stunning Harbour views, it got a big thumbs up from parents, students and staff alike, including Ms McFetridge’s Year 9 PASS students, who were very excited to help out on the day.
Our Year 3 to 6 students embraced the House spirit, with lots of examples of teamwork, cooperation and support for others.
It was a fantastic day both in and out of the pool, with some amazing swimming.
The winner of the House Cup for Junior School was Messiter and the winner of the House Cheers was Palmer.
A huge thank you to Assistant Head of Sport (K to 6), Mr Bresnic and to all the Junior School staff who worked so hard on the day to make sure everything ran smoothly. And thank you to Ms Lewington for her amazing photography!
Director of Sport, Mr Hill, will be announcing the official results for Senior School at Assembly in Week 4 and Junior School at Assembly in Week 5.
Detailed results will be posted on the Sports Department Portal page this term.
Oh and while the Senior School students were busy battling it out in the pool at North Ryde last Friday, our Junior School students decided to stage a takeover of Senior campus.
