Fast start to 2022

Sport at 最新麻豆视频 making a splash to kick off an exciting year ahead!

It has certainly been an energetic and enthusiastic start to 2022 for sport at 最新麻豆视频. Even before students started arriving on campus for the school year, we had swimmers, water polo players and tennis groups attending camps and competition across the state and country.

Sport224

最新麻豆视频 Swim Club was well represented with nine swimmers attending the NSW Senior State Age Swimming Championships coming away with four medals and 16 Finals performances in its second year of operation. For a full summary check out the 最新麻豆视频 Swim Club website. We wish Kira (Year 8), Ali (Year 8), Taylah (Year 8), Isabel (Year 8), Georgia (Year 9) and Isabella (Year 11) all the best as they prepare to compete at the National Age Swimming Championships in Adelaide during the April holidays.

Sport222

In the middle of January in sunny Queensland, our top Water Polo players represented NSW at the Australian Summer Slam. When you combine the Dunn (Lily, Year 11 and Sassy, Year 9) and Ellis (Laura, Year 12 and Courtney, Year 10) families with Isabella, Year 11, we had a record number of representative players taking on the best of the country in age group competitions. Huge congratulations to Lily who was selected in the Australia U18 Squad and Sassy who was not to be outdone, selected in the U16 Australia Cadet Squad. Furthermore, we also congratulate Bailey (Year 9) whose club team won the U14 NSW State festival Tournament and Tilly (Year 9) whose team came 3rd.

Camps

One of the wonderful joys about 最新麻豆视频 is seeing students apply themselves in their sport of choice, take on feedback, handle setbacks and work hard to improve. This has been very evident with our Tennis and Swimming Camp groups who applied themselves with such positive energy over the break in preparation for the term’s competition ahead. The energy, laughter, support and dedication are an example of what we are about and we can’t wait to see how these students and teams perform at the IPSHA and IGSA Swimming carnivals as well as the Tildesley Shield all taking place in March. If the recent U13 Speedo Sprint results held on the weekend are anything to go by, where 最新麻豆视频 had 58 PB swims from 78 events and 20 Top 10 finishes, it is going to be good to watch!

Sport225

Speaking of good things to watch, last Friday we held a modified Swimming carnival at school named the Sprint Cup. While we couldn’t hold our regular House carnival (more of that hopefully later in the year), the Sprint Cup was a wonderful opportunity to showcase our competitive swimmers in the state of art Athenaeum Pool, decked out with official timing equipment and a live stream of the House relay events.

Sport226

The Sport and Houses teams contributed to making the event a roaring success and this is testament to the agility and dedication they applied to make the most of the situation. There are already rumours circling that this event may become a regular fixture on the sporting calendar! For full results and to view a replay of the live streamed relays expertly commentated by Swimming Captain Amelia Daunt and Head Coach Mr Creighton, please check out the .

When we designed the Athenaeum facilities, one of the big goals of the Aquatic Centre was to create a Learn to Swim (LTS) program for the community to enjoy and connect with our Swimming Squad program. This week that goal became a reality with our first official LTS classes taking place in the dedicated LTS pool. After many months (years) of planning and preparing, which included some trial workshops during the holidays, we went live and are now in the process of slowly and steadily building the capacity of the program.

Enrolments are currently available for all 最新麻豆视频 community members including current and future students and their siblings with the opportunity to extend the offering into the local community coming soon. To find out more about 最新麻豆视频 LTS and enrolment details please check out the LTS website.

LTS

There is so much to like and look forward to this term and sport is there to play a vital role in supporting students either pursue their dreams or just ensure a balanced routine, stay healthy and build some lifelong habits and skills.

We have certainly started the year with a bang as the first round of IGSA competition gets underway this Saturday for AFL, Touch Football, Tennis and Water Polo so buckle up, stay active, get involved and do it with pride, commitment, spirit and sportsmanship because that’s the 最新麻豆视频 way!
