Adventures in Art

DrawvemberImages

Students of all abilities converge in the Undercroft to express their inner artist during Drawvember.

Drawvember is a month-long celebration of the art of drawing, with a different prompt for each day. The 最新麻豆视频 Senior School joined the fun with The Big Draw - a week and a half of individual and collaborative activities during lunchtimes to get the students' creative juices flowing.

An initiative of the Visual Arts Department, The Big Draw attracted people of all skill levels to pick up their pens and pencils. It was launched with a collaborative artwork inspired by female Indigenous artists Daisy Japulija, Sonia Kurarra, Tjigila Nada Rawlins, and Ms. Uhl. Using maps of the Sydney area, including North Sydney, our young artists contributed a series of colourful patterns to make large-scale artworks.

The Post-it Note Challenge brought more opportunities for cross-year group socialising as the students sketched designs on a multitude of coloured Post-its, creating a collage of tiny works with a big impact.

The Big Draw was rounded up with a session of Blind Contour. The students took turns drawing each other while challenging themselves not to look at their paper or take their pencils off the page. The varied results provoked much hilarity and a new-found interest in artistic pursuits in general.

A huge thanks to our Visual Arts Department led by Ms Juliette Carson (acting), for the chance to let our inner artists shine!
