Dr Briony Scott Recognised
Congratulations to our Principal, Dr Briony Scott, who has won the 2023 Phyllis Evans Medal.
The Medal is bestowed each year by the Teachers’ Guild of New South Wales and recognises Dr Scott's unswerving dedication to fostering independent students and inspiring educators.
“Dr Scott provides an environment that allows every opportunity for students to be fully engaged in the decisions they make about life,” said the Guild. "Her commitment to young people assists and guides them to make wise choices about whom they will become, what they will do, and where they will go. She is equally committed to investing in outstanding, aspiring, and inspiring educators, particularly women, so they might rightfully take their place in leadership roles. Founder of the Renaissance Women’s Leadership Network, she is focused on creating a space for educators to influence and inform best practices.”
“Dr Scott acknowledges the expertise of those who work in schools and is committed to enhancing a profession marked by a need for wisdom and ethical leadership. She has researched girls’ education, motivational theory, and educational technology and believes in the empowerment of young people to discover and develop their strengths and talents, engage in egalitarian leadership, be adventurous, brave and strong, and be a voice for those who cannot speak. Dr Scott is Chair of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (2023), Deputy Chair of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, Director of the School for Life Foundation, and a member of the Association of Independent Schools of NSW Advisory Committee, and the University of Sydney Stem Advisory Panel. She is a writer and speaker and has been in the media on matters covering adolescence, education, and social discourse."
Dr Scott will be presented with the Phyllis Evans Medal at the Teachers’ Guild of New South Wales Annual Dinner and Presentation of Awards on Friday 27 October, 2023, in Warwick Farm.
