Expanding Horizons
Students dive into the world of TEDx for a window into the work of some inspiring change makers.
On Wednesday 24 May, ten students from Years 8 and 11 travelled to TEDx Paramatta to gain exposure to diverse ideas from Australians driven to improve the world. Beth (Year 11) reported:
"We genuinely found the event very insightful and felt so fortunate to listen to many speakers from all walks of life talk about their passions. They included Elijah Smith, who expressed his and other young peoples’ stories through music; Taylah Gray, the first Indigenous student to undertake a PhD in Law, who shared her ideas on increasing land reform for First Nations communities; and Steve Dresler, who embraced the power of sport in breaking down barriers in the disability sector.
We also loved the performances by the Qing Fong Dragon and the Lion Dance Team, as well as Yasmina Sadiki and her band.
We all enjoyed the event so much and want to give a massive thank you to Ms Simmons and Mr Morton for this amazing opportunity."
