Musical Extravaganza
最新麻豆视频's end-of-semester Music concerts are delighting audiences with the exceptional talent and enthusiasm of students in Years 3 to 12.
Nearly 200 students contributed to the challenging repertoire, which included pieces from productions such as the 2020 Netflix movie musical The Prom, and Little Women, based on the book by Louisa May Alcott. Our auditioned choir Petite Voices shared the remarkable skills that recently saw it selected to perform with the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus.
The Junior School Choir, with well over 100 members from Years 3 to 6, gave a personality-filled performance of The School Song from Matilda the Musical before the night came to a rousing conclusion with a performance of The Sky and the Dawn by our combined choirs. Featuring students from Years 3 to 12, it opened with a distant call that represented the dawn approaching and built to an enchanting frenzy of voices, violins and drums.
Choral Captain Belis (Year 12) acted as a compere and was significantly involved in the event's preparation. "This being the last Choral Concert of my School journey, I was particularly grateful to have been involved in such a successful performance. With so many students taking part, it was something we have been looking forward to for many years since Covid," she said. "Girls from every year group really got involved, sharing a passion for music with one another and simply just having fun! We all had a laugh at the Middle School Choir's rendition of The School Song from Matilda, and I was personally very moved and enjoyed being a part of the Vocal Ensemble's performance of Songs of Innocence of Joy, which showcased some beautiful vocal talent, with all kudos due to our incredible conductors who shared so much energy and passion with us all!"
Last Wednesday night, students from Years 3 to 12 came together for Ensemble Concert 1, which featured performances from our Orchestra, Chamber Groups, Stringendo, Clarinet Ensemble, Flute Ensemble, String Quartets, and Camerata. They demonstrated their remarkable progress made throughout Semester 1 with a program that included the dynamic theme from The Incredibles and the moving song Over the Rainbow. Traditional Swedish compositions and well-loved pop songs also made an appearance. Don't miss the final concert of the semester – Ensembles Concert 2 (Bands and Percussion) at 6pm on Monday 19 June.
