最新麻豆视频's Eco-Warriors

Our Junior School Student Representative Council (JS SRC) has been revolutionising recycling habits in the Junior School classrooms by making recycling more accessible, engaging, and fun for their peers, fostering a sustainable mindset for the future.

One of the ongoing challenges facing our generation of young women is that of recycling. We hear about it all the time and know the right thing to do, but it doesn’t always seem easy or practical to act. So, the 最新麻豆视频 JS SRC is trying to make it easier for us to play a part in helping to save our environment.

One of the aims of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate is to promote the idea of Taking Action. The JS SRC is certainly living up to this ideal by promoting the appropriate use of paper recycling.

This year, we arranged for new paper recycling bins to be placed in each classroom and across the School, decorated them for that personal touch, and designed posters for display to promote their use.

Back in our classrooms, we have been encouraging the girls to try and recycle all paper, even the pieces you might not immediately think about, such as all the little offcuts created when we trim class worksheets and cut out shapes. We have also been promoting the recycling of lunch order bags from the Garden Café and hope to expand our recycling campaign to include cans, glass, and plastics.

The JS SRC is made up of two representatives from each class, from Kindergarten to Year 6. These representatives are voted as Class Captains and serve a period of one term before handing over the reins to another pair of student leaders.

The JS SRC meets each Monday at lunchtime to discuss initiatives ranging from basic school improvements to helping our environment and other lunchtime initiatives. The group’s efforts have been dutifully overseen this year by the JS SRC Captains, Jessica and Sophie.
