Extraordinary Success at the IGSA Festival of Speech

Our students brought home a series of impressive results from the recent IGSA Festival of Speech at MLC Burwood, where nearly 30 schools competed in events ranging from drama and debating to poetry, prose, current affairs, and ethical discussions. In Drama, the students explored the theme ‘Surprise, Surprise’, delving into self-reflection and revealing hidden truths. Their portrayal of women confronting insecurities highlighted self-acceptance over concealing flaws. The team earned praise for originality, clarity, and thoughtful engagement with the theme, resonating strongly with both the audience and adjudicators.
The Debating teams showed exceptional skill and resilience, with the Senior team using a British Parliamentary style that included Points of Information to enhance dialogue. Both the Junior and Senior teams reached the finals, ultimately winning. The Junior team debated gender quotas on corporate boards, while the Senior team discussed the role of university educators.
