Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day
Grandparents' and Special Friends’ Day and Junior School Art Show: A Joyous Celebration of Creativity and Connection.
On Thursday 24 October, the Junior School hosted a heartwarming combined event — the Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Celebration, alongside the dazzling Junior School Art Show. For the first time, these two beloved occasions were brought together, creating an unforgettable day filled with performances, creativity, and community.
The event kicked off at the Piazza with a lively performance by the Stringendo group, setting the tone for an afternoon of joy and connection. Excited students from Kindergarten to Year 6 eagerly reunited with their grandparents and special friends, leading them to one of three locations for a range of activities.
From the delightful Kindergarten performance of Bruno Mars' Count on Me, to classroom visits showcasing the use of technology in learning, there was plenty to see and experience. Guests admired stunning student artworks, handcrafted friendship bracelets, and even had the opportunity to create a podcast with the students — truly an activity-filled afternoon!
The culmination of months of hard work, the art exhibition showcased a wide variety of creative pieces that students from Kindergarten to Year 6 had been crafting under the guidance of Art Teacher Ms Lewington. Each artwork reflected the students' growth and imagination, leaving the audience both inspired and impressed.
After an afternoon rich with art, performances, and classroom exploration, a well-deserved afternoon tea provided the perfect opportunity for everyone to relax and reflect on the day’s festivities. Grandparents, students, and staff alike enjoyed a day that celebrated the vibrant spirit of the Junior School and the power of creative expression.
