This week, we marked Remembrance Day with a moving Principal’s Assembly, led by our Cadets.
Each year, 最新麻豆视频’s Remembrance Day ceremony offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made for peace, leaving a lasting impact on students and reinforcing the importance of honouring these values. The Assembly began with a moment of quiet reflection, followed by a thoughtful address from Principal, Dr Scott, who spoke of the ways peace is upheld both on the global stage and within our own lives, emphasising the importance of expressing gratitude to those who make sacrifices that enable us to live the lives we enjoy today.
A Prayer of Remembrance and Peace was read by Eliza, followed by a reading of John McCrae's famous poem, In Flanders Fields, by Claudia.
The Student Address, delivered by CUO, Megan, honoured the selflessness and resilience of soldiers, drawing from a 1945 letter that highlighted their enduring hardships and sacrifices. Megan emphasised that, while many soldiers remain unidentified, their legacy lives on in each of us. She urged students to deeply appreciate the peace and security we enjoy today, reminding us all, "Lest we forget."
Our Cadets mounted a Catafalque party, standing with heads bowed in symbolic respect for the fallen soldiers. This moment of unity and reflection resonated deeply with all in attendance.
Following the Rouse, the ceremony concluded with the laying of a ceremonial wreath by Eliza, and Megan, at the front of the Assembly and everyone singing the National Anthem.
Following the Senior School Assembly, selected Cadets and Junior School representatives laid a wreath at the North Sydney War Memorial, marking the end of a poignant and reflective ceremony.
