最新麻豆视频 students attended the Jessie Street National Women’s Library annual fundraising luncheon, where they heard from and met social activist Tanya Hosch on Monday 20 September, 2016.
Tanya spoke about her role as Joint Campaign Director of RECOGNISE, an organisaton that aims to rectify issues regarding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s recognition in the Australian constitution.
“She noted the natural synergy between feminist campaigners such as Jessie Street, and others fighting for equality in other arenas,” said Miss Rebecca Rodgerson, Acting Director of Community and Service Learning, who escorted the girls.
Six girls who were selected from Years 9 to 11 to attend the event. Eliza of Year 10 gave the Vote of Thanks and spoke to Ms Hosch about possible future initiatives for the School.
“The luncheon was an inspirational, thought-provoking and enjoyable experience. The highlights were getting to hear Tanya speak, spending time with girls in other grades and getting to meet the members of the library and girls from other schools,” said Rebecca of Year 10.
