All our teachers and professional services staff received a small gift and a handwritten card as a token of our appreciation for their hard work and commitment.

Our staff also enjoyed a celebratory lunch, with a Mexican theme, in the Undercroft.

From the blackboards and chalk of yesteryear to the laptops and virtual learning of today, education is evolving in exciting new ways, and our teachers seek to embody excellence, inspiration, independence and empowerment in girls’ education.

To mark World Teachers’ Day, we asked some of our students what they thought of their teachers. At Woodstock, Kindergarten girls Amelia, Lara, Keira and Bethan were working beautifully together to complete an engineering task. They were trying to make a simple machine that moves or in their words “a machine that pings off”.

When asked why they loved their teacher, they said she was kind and caring. Bethan added that, “When I can’t do my work, my teacher tells me to give it a red hot go, so I do and it works.”

At Hooke House, our Year 3 students were focused on working out fractions with Mrs Blackband. Amelia, Greta and Leni said Mrs Blackband makes Maths fun, is very good at drawing and very kind. Sarah summed it all up by saying, “There’s basically nothing negative about her.”

Over in Senior College, Mr Little’s Maths class started their lesson ‘Gangnam Style’ with a song, before dividing up into pairs and moving around the whiteboards in the classroom to solve different equations. The girls said that Mr Little definitely brought Maths to life.

Mr Marcovitch’s ceramics class was a hive of activity as the girls carefully decorated their beautifully intricate vases and pots. The girls said they were extremely grateful to Mr Marcovitch for his guidance and support.

Albert Einstein said, “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” On World Teachers’ Day, we would like to recognise our staff for all that they do to enrich the student experience here at ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ. Thank you.
