Family-style art at the MCA
Families from Kindergarten to Year 3 attended 最新麻豆视频’s inaugural Family Saturday Art Day at the Museum of Contemporary Art recently, for a fun, hands-on and colourful workshop.
Organised by Junior School Art Teacher Miss Lewington, the families started with a fascinating gallery tour of the Sydney Biennale, where they explored themes of connections and collaboration.
They then continued upstairs to the National Centre of Creative Learning for an art-making workshop.
By nature, art-making is a messy, hands-on and colourful affair, and our parents and their daughters had tremendous fun making a collaborative artwork together.
Their imaginative piece now hangs proudly in the Piazza in Woodstock for all our community to enjoy.
For the parents whose only memory of visiting art galleries with their children has been over-zealous staff ruthlessly policing artwork and exhibits, this playful and immersive workshop was an absolute delight.
One family said that the workshop far exceeded their expectations. “The educators explained difficult concepts such as fossils in a visual way.” Another said, “It was a great, pressure-free way to explore art and culture.”
And another said, “It was great spending one-on-one time with my daughter in a small relaxed environment. There was a great variety of activities to do. Plus the big smile on my daughter’s face made it a 10/10 for me!”
Overall, parents felt the Art Day was well organised, engaging and had sparked their creativity and imagination. It was such a big hit in fact, they can’t wait for the next one!
