  • All made up: Staff versus Students - Last Friday, our Drama Department went head to head with six of our Year 10 students in the Independent Theatre for our inaugural (and hilarious) Staff versus Students Theatresports Challenge!
  • Book Week’s Curious Creatures - From author talks via Zoom, to book writing workshops, our talented librarians organised lots of fun activities for CBCA Book Week, celebrating Curious Creatures and Wild Minds everywhere.
  • Cadets embrace ‘rain’ - There is a common saying in the Army: ‘If it ain’t raining, it ain’t training.’ 2020 has certainly been a year of ‘rain’, but it has led to many learning and leadership opportunities for the ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Cadets.
  • Celebrating the Day of the Dead - Hola and Feliz día de Muertos everyone! This week, ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ has been celebrating Mexico’s Day of the Dead, decorating sugar skulls, building an ‘altar’ on the bridge, and handing out stickers to students.
  • Creative writing - Sydney Living Museums - We are so proud of Lily (Year 10) for being awarded Stage 5 runner up in the Sydney Living Museums ‘A Thousand Words’ writing competition. You can read her piece here
  • It’s all Zoom, not gloom, for alumnae! - Yesterday, Dr Scott hosted a reunion with a difference: a virtual White and Blue Afternoon Tea via Zoom – complete with Melting Moments, teabags and a ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ tea towel – for alumnae who left the School in 1980 or earlier.
  • Lest We Forget ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ - It has been 102 years since the guns fell silent on the Western Front. Across the School, we commemorated Remembrance Day, remembering those who gave their lives for our freedom.
  • Let them eat crêpe! - Oh, là là! Ms Jalili’s Year 9 Food Technology students have been channelling all things ‘français’ this week, making deliciously light, sweet and savoury crêpes.
  • Masterchef Kindy-style - This week, Kindergarten practically combusted with joy when they were given their first opportunity to cook in the Food Tech kitchen. And what was on the menu? Cookies with sprinkles of course!
  • Project Connect - Project Connect has been a wonderful way for our younger Wenonians to learn what the School was like in the past and forge connection with older alumnae, who have been forced to isolate due to COVID-19.
  • Responsible actions can change the world - At the end of this term, our Year 6 students will present a virtual PYP Exhibition, showcasing their learning as well as their commitment to hope and positive change.
  • STEM Day goes off with a BANG! - Year 10 conducted an action-packed STEM Day for Junior School last week, with fun experiments galore. There were exploding volcanoes, dinosaur hunts, egg drops and boat races.
  • Viva España at MUNA 2020 - Last term, ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ hosted the 2020 Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) forum. Students competed in teams against each other, with Spain (congrats Mya and Neve) placing first.
  • ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ’s Junior School speaks up - Our panel of judges were blown away by the level of sophistication and engagement at ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ’s Junior School Public Speaking Competition Grand Final last Thursday.
  • Year 10 PASS - shaken, not stirred - Our Year 10 PASS students lived out their Olympic dreams on Wednesday, with an excursion to Penrith Whitewater Stadium, competition venue for the canoe/kayak slalom events at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
  • Year 12 Spanish visit Instituto Cervantes - Last week, our Year 12 Spanish students sat the DELE exam at the Instituto Cervantes – it will give them an accreditation of competence in the Spanish language. Hannah and Matilda report.
  • Year 2 talk design with Dr Scott - As part of their latest PYP unit, ‘How We Organise Ourselves’, Year 2 has looked at the evolution of ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ, which included an interview with Dr Scott.
  • Year 5 celebrate our First Peoples - From the thrill of experiencing a traditional Aboriginal Smoking Ceremony, to learning more about Aboriginal art and artefacts, Year 5 learnt a lot this week, about the world’s oldest surviving culture.
  • Year 6 Graduation - Last Thursday, Year 6 marked a very special milestone in their lives - their graduation from Primary School – with a Principal’s Assembly in the Independent Theatre, which was livestreamed to parents.
  • Year 6’s Starry Night - Year 6 have been extremely busy of late, creating a mosaic of Van Gogh’s iconic painting, Starry Night, devising games of chance and probability, and holding a sneak preview of their end-of-year projects.
  • Zooming in on Accountancy - Last week, ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ hosted the final of the ×îÐÂÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Alumnae Twilight Sessions, with Lara Wilkinson (2010py) speaking to students from Amsterdam, about her role as Manager, Deals Advisory for PwC.
